Squirrels and chipmunks treat container gardens like a buffet. They dig up bulbs, uproot seedlings, and undo a season's work in an afternoon. Pot Guardians stop the raid without traps, sprays, or chemicals.

Each Guardian is a hand-twisted copper stake, 9 inches tall with a 16 inch span, strung with six antique brass bells that hang from two graceful arms. They ship as a pair: bend each one into a gentle half-circle and set one on either side of your pot, and together they ring the entire rim. The moment a critter hops in to dig, the bells chime and the motion spooks them off.

They are built to live outdoors. Copper weathers to a warm patina over time, and the bells keep their bright ring season after season. Beyond the function, they are simply beautiful, a little bit of movement and sound that makes a container garden feel alive.

Handmade in my Atlanta yard, tested against the actual squirrels currently plotting against my tomatoes.

Common questions

How do I set them up?

Bend each stake into a half-circle and push the ends into the soil on opposite sides of your pot. Together the pair rings the full circumference so there is no gap for a critter to sneak through.

Will one pair cover a big pot?

One pair covers a standard round container, roughly up to 16 to 18 inches across. For very large pots or raised beds, add a second pair.

Does it actually work?

The combination of sudden sound and movement is what does it. Squirrels and chipmunks startle easily and go looking for an easier meal. It is a deterrent, not a cage, so it works best set up before the digging starts.

Is it safe for plants and pets?

Completely. No chemicals, no sharp traps, just copper, brass, and a little noise.

Will the copper rust?

Copper does not rust. It develops a warm brown-green patina over time, which many people love. The bells stay bright.
